Sarah Palin encourages Americans to wear a mask after bout with COVID.

Former Republican governor of Alaska Sarah Palin revealed on Wednesday that she had COVID and is urging Americans to continue wearing masks.

Palin said she and some of her family members, including her son and daughter, tested positive for the virus.

“As confident as I’d like to be about my own health, and despite my joking that I’m blessed to constantly breathe in the most sterile air, my case is perhaps one of those that proves anyone can catch this,” Palin told PEOPLE magazine in a statement on Wednesday.

“One of my daughters awoke to having lost her sense of taste and smell and immediately had a positive COVID test, then was quarantined in isolation,” Palin said. The virus then made its way through her family including 12-year-old Trig who was born with Down syndrome.

“Children with special needs are vulnerable to COVID ramifications, so with a high fever he was prescribed azithromycin, which really seemed to help, and I increased amounts of vitamins I put in his puréed food,” she wrote.

After testing negative, Palin said she developed “bizarre” symptoms overnight like slight fever, sore muscles, loss of taste and smell. It was then that she assumed that it was COVID.

“That day I finally tested positive — like millions of other Americans.”

She’s encouraging Americans to use common sense to avoid spreading the virus to others and that includes wearing a mask because it’s better than not doing anything.

“I view wearing that cumbersome mask indoors in a crowd as not only allowing the newfound luxury of being incognito, but trust it’s better than doing nothing to slow the spread,” Palin says. “And history will show we Masked Singer visitors were masked before being masked was cool,” she added.

President Biden has urged state leaders to keep mask mandates in place as the country is on the brink of experiencing a fourth wave of the virus.

So far, some Republican governors across the country has lifted mask mandates and do away with measures put in place to limit the spread of the virus.
