Trump blames blue states for the country's coronavirus death toll.

Donald Trump blamed the “blue states” for the high number of COVID-19 related deaths on Wednesday.

Trump argued that the country handled the virus well when compared to other nations and if you remove the data from blue states–which has some of the most populated areas in the country— the death rate for the country would be much lower.

“If you take the blue states out. we’re at a level that I don’t think anybody in the world would be at. We’re really at a very low level but some of the states — they were blue states and blue-state management,” Trump said.

Just seconds after he blamed the leadership in blue states for the federal government’s failure to contain the coronavirus, Trump blasted them for not lifting coronavirus restrictions implemented by Governors to mitigate the spread of the virus.

“By the way, we’d recommend they open up their states. It’s hurting people far more than the disease itself,” Trump said.
