Donald Trump reiterated his bizarre claim about ending eight wars on Wednesday, this time including one in which he claimed 15 million people were decapitated.

Trump made the comments aboard Air Force One after attending a NATO summit in Turkey.

‘Think of the wars I settled. Eight. Wars that were going on for 30 years,” he told reporters. “Even if you look in the Congo. The Congo vs. Rwanda. I settled it after 14 years and about 15 million people had their heads chopped off. I settled that one. I settled eight wars.”

Rwandan President Paul Kagame and Democratic Republic of Congo leader Felix Tshisekedi signed an agreement in Washington, D.C., in 2025 to end hostilities in the conflict, but fighting continues to this day. There is zero evidence that the decades-long conflict between the two countries has killed 15 million people, much less that that many were beheaded.

Trump made the case that he is more deserving of the Nobel Peace Prize than anyone who has ever received it while answering reporters’ questions about the Wall Street Journal report suggesting that Venezuelan opposition leader María Corina Machado’s plans to re-enter her country after devastating earthquakes were derailed due to the US’s intervention.

Machado was the 2025 recipient of the Nobel Peace Prize. She gave Trump her plaque in January, less than two weeks after Trump ordered the U.S. military operation in Venezuela to capture then-President Nicolás Maduro.

Trump claims Machado told him she could not believe she won the award over him.

“And when she won the Nobel Prize for Peace, she said, ‘I can’t believe I won. The only one that should win it is Trump,” he said. “Actually, they probably will do the wrong thing. It’s very sad. But I would say, I should’ve won that award more than anybody that ever received the Nobel Peace Prize, because nobody’s settled wars. I settled eight of them. Because I’m a certain type of personality, I was able to settle them.”
