Donald Trump took to his social media app, Truth Social, Monday morning to complain about the FBI executing a search warrant at Mar-a-Lago and accused agents of not taking off their shoes in his bedroom.
In the post, Trump wrote that he returned to Mar-a-Lago to “check out the scene of yet another government crime,” referring to the search on August 8.
“I guess they don’t think there is a Fourth Amendment anymore, and to them, there isn’t,” Trump wrote. “In any event, after what they have done, the place will never be the same. It was ‘ransacked,’ and in far different condition than the way I left it. Many Agents – And they didn’t even take off their shoes in my bedroom. Nice!!!”
This is not the first time Trump has criticized the actions of the FBI agents who executed a lawful search warrant at his Mar-a-Lago resort.
In the weeks after the search he accused agents of leaving former first lady Melania Trump’s closet in a “mess” and claimed agents searched his son Barron’s room.
He also said agents made him look sloppy by scattering documents on the floor after the DOJ released a photo of some of the documents retrieved from Mar-a-Lago.
During the August 8th search, the FBI retrieved 11 sets of classified documents, including some marked “top secret”. The Justice Department is investigating the former president for possible violations of the Espionage Act, obstruction of justice and criminal handling of government records.
