Trump’s approval rating falls.

Donald Trump’s approval rating has fallen in the past week as the honeymoon period appears to be coming to an end.

A new Economist/YouGov poll released Wednesday shows that 46 percent of Americans approve of the job Trump is doing as president while 48 percent disapprove.

This is the first time since Trump’s inauguration that he has a net negative approval rating in the poll.

The drop in Trump’s approval rating is due, in part, to younger voters developing a more unfavorable view of him.

The poll found that 39% of voters under the age of 30 have a favorable opinion of Trump and 57% have an unfavorable opinion. Two weeks ago, 50% of adults under 30 had a favorable opinion of Trump, while 46% had an unfavorable opinion.

Trump’s favorability rating among adults aged 30 to 44 has also slipped, from 45% favorable and 51% unfavorable to 42% favorable and 55% unfavorable.

“President Donald Trump began his presidency on a surge of popularity, unprecedented for him,” YouGov’s data analysts noted in Wednesday’s poll. “That has now faded.”

The Economist/YouGov poll was conducted among 1,595 U.S. adult citizens between February 9-11. It has a margin of error of ±3.5 percentage points.
