Donald Trump’s mounting legal bills have left his PAC with just $5 million in the bank ahead of the 2024 presidential election.
Trump has been criminally indicted four times and he also faces several civil lawsuits. Campaign disclosures show that legal fees alone cost his political fundraising committees more than $50 million in 2023.
Save America PAC, Trump’s leadership PAC, which is footing much of his legal bills, spent nearly $26 million on legal fees in the second half of last year. The PAC also paid other expenses including $110,000 to Melania Trump’s stylist for “strategy consulting.”
In the second half of last year, the PAC only raised $6 million.
This means that the Save America PAC, which once had $100 million in the bank now has just $5.1 million heading into a likely general election rematch with Joe Biden.
Meanwhile, the Trump campaign committee reportedly raised $19 million, but spent $23.5 million, leaving the campaign with $33 million in the bank.
Trump’s legal bills will be an even bigger drain on his campaign finances in 2024 as trials in the criminal cases against him are set to begin and he appeals two jury verdicts in E. Jean Carroll’s defamation cases including the recent $83.3 million ruling.
