Trump's team contacted RFK Jr about VP role, report says.

People close to Donald Trump reportedly reached out to Robert Kennedy Jr. about serving as the former president’s running mate, The New York Post reported.

“Trump operatives expressed an interest in Kennedy early on, but it was all premature,” a person with knowledge of the matter told the outlet. The source added that this was “right out of the box when Bobby announced” he was running for president in April 2023.

Kennedy, a prominent anti-vaxxer, wasn’t interested in joining Trump’s Republican presidential campaign, per the report, but the source said “anything’s possible. I wouldn’t write it off by any means.”

A major donor to both Trump and Kennedy is also not writing off the possibility of a Trump/Kennedy ticket in November either.

“It’s very much behind the scenes at this stage. As we progress you might see it bubble up a little bit more,” the donor said. “Bobby can bring new people to the polls.”

Kennedy initially ran as a Democrat but failed to gain any traction in the primary against incumbent President Joe Biden. He dropped out of the race and announced his bid for the presidency as an independent.

So far, he has gathered enough signatures to appear on the ballot in New Hampshire and Utah. On Saturday he signaled he is open to running as the Libertarian Party candidate in November, that way he can appear on the ballot in all 50 states and in D.C.
