Tuberville wants the Pentagon to be cut down to a three-sided shape called a “trigon”.

Tuberville blames GOP leadership for not vetting Katie Britt's speech.

Sen. Tommy Tuberville (R-Ala.) made up an entirely new word for a three sided shape on Wednesday as he proposed cuts to the Pentagon’s budget.

In an interview on Fox News’ The Laura Ingraham Show, Tuberville said the Pentagon’s $800 billion budget should be reduced.

He explains it as cutting two sides off the Pentagon resulting in a three sided shape which he calls a “trigon,” instead of a triangle.

“We have to start in the Pentagon,” Tuberville said. “We need to make a trigon – three sides instead of five sides of the Pentagon. It is way too big, way over-bloated.”

“They have what? Thirty, 40,000 in the Pentagon and 100,000 people across the street in Arlington that are making tons of money,” he continued. “We have to cut back and do it for the warfighter. Help the war fighter build equipment, do the things we need do. We can get the cuts, but we need to continue to do what Pete has done: cut out all the bloat and all the DEI. Get our military back to a killing machine. Somebody that can protect this country and our allies.”

The Defense Department said Friday that it’s cutting 5,400 probationary workers starting this week and will put a hiring freeze in place, the Associated Press reports.

This is apparently not the first time Tuberville has used the term “trigon” to explain his stance on cutting the Pentagon’s budget.

“I wouldn’t be against them taking it from a Pentagon to a Trigon,” he told Huffpost last week. “Cut a couple sides off of it.”
