Employees at the Department of Housing and Urban Development were met with an AI image of Donald Trump kissing the feet of Elon Musk at the office on Monday.
The photo was displayed on TV screens at HUD headquarters in Washington DC with the message, “LONG LIVE THE REAL KING,” according to reporters.
A HUD spokesperson told the Washington Post that the stunt is “another waste of taxpayer dollars and resources. Appropriate action will be taken for all involved.”
This comes days after a leaked internal memo shows that Musk’s Department of Government Efficiency (DOGE) plans to cut HUD’s workforce in half — from about 8,300 employees to just over 4,000, according to the Associated Press.
They cuts are reportedly targeting employees who support disaster recovery, rental subsidies, discrimination investigations and first-time homebuyers.
