Two fathers shoot each other's daughters in road rage incident.

Two girls were shot in Florida after their fathers began shooting at each other during a road rage incident, according to Fox5.

The Nassau County Sheriff’s Office said two men, William Hale, 35, and Frank Allison, 43, were driving their families on Oct. 8 when the incident occurred. A witness said he saw a black Dodge Ram and a gray Nissan Murano driving erratically as if in a “cat and mouse game.”

Hale was driving the Dodge Ram with five occupants and Allison drove the Nissan Murano with three people inside, Nassau County Sheriff Bill Leeper said.

Police say the two men kept driving in front of each other and slamming their brakes until Hale rolled down his passenger window and yelled at Allison to pull over. At that point Allison’s wife “flicked off” Hale and someone in Hale’s truck responded by throwing a plastic water bottle into Allison’s vehicle.

Allison grabbed his gun and fired at the back of Hale’s truck before speeding away. The bullet hit Hale’s 5-year-old daughter in the leg.

When Hale realized his daughter was hit, he pulled out his gun and fired multiple shots at Allison’s car, hitting his 14-year-old daughter in the back and causing her lung to collapse.

The chase ended when the men saw a patrol car and pulled over. They reportedly got out of their vehicles and began fighting until the officer broke them up. Both Hale and Allison were charged with one count of attempted second-degree murder.

The two girls were taken to a hospital in Jacksonville and both are expected to survive.

Police say the road rage incident lasted for “several miles” and spanned two counties.

“I thought of the movie Dumb and Dumber. How stupid could two people be to endanger their children, not only by driving recklessly, but by shooting a gun at another vehicle while engaged in a road rage incident is just insane,” Sheriff Leeper said. “Thankfully, no one was killed in this incident, but it could have very easily turned out that way. There could have been two dead kids because of two stupid grown men.”
