More than 4,000 Americans died from the coronavirus on Thursday, a single day record.
According to the COVID Tracking Project, 4,033 Americans died from the coronavirus. It is the first time the country has recorded more than 4,000 deaths in a single day since the start of the pandemic.

Overall, 365,102 Americans have lost their lives to COVID since the pandemic began.
Also on Thursday the country recorded more than 266,000 cases and over 132,000 hospitalization.
This comes as Donald Trump has largely ignored the pandemic since the election. There is light at the end of the tunnel with two COVID vaccine getting approval by the FDA but so far, rollout has been slow.
