That figure does not represent the full total of COVID related deaths on Wednesday due to delays in reporting of the number of deaths, hospitalization and cases because of the holidays.

Since the start of the pandemic 333,500 Americans have died from the disease.

More than 225,671 new COVID cases were reported on Wednesday, bringing the country’s total to 19,745,888, according to data from Johns Hopkins University.

125,220 people are hospitalized for the infection in the US, which is also a single-day record.
