More than 3,000 Americans died from coronavirus on Wednesday, the highest in a single day.

More that 3,000 Americans died on Wednesday from the coronavirus, the highest since the pandemic began.

According to the COVID Tracking Project, 3,054 Americans died from coronavirus today. This breaks the previous record of 2,769 set on May 7. 280,454 Americas have died of COVID-19 so far.

Also on Wednesday the country recorded 211,000 new cases. The US is now averaging a total of over 200,000 new cases every day.

Over 106,688 Americans were hospitalized with the coronavirus on Wednesday, that is also a record.
