Vice President J.D. Vance is denying that Donald Trump said he loves inflation, despite the president saying so on camera.

At the White House last week Trump said, “I love the inflation” after Bureau of Labor Statistics (BLS) figures for May showed that prices went up by 4.2% over the previous 12 months, the fastest rate for three years.

“I love it. The numbers were great. You know what I really love? I love the inflation,” Trump said.

But, during an appearance on The View, Vance denied that Trump made those comments when pressed by host Ana Navarro.

“What he said, Ana, is that he loves the fact that the inflation is going to come down when this war is over, that’s what he said,” Vannce said.

When the hosts pushed back, telling Vance “that’s not what he said,” the VP doubled down.

“What he said was, I love the inflation because it’s going to come down once the war is over,” Vance reiterated.
