The Appomattox County Republican Committee passed a resolution on Saturday to censure Virginia Rep. Denver Riggleman for “betraying the very morals, principals, and values of the Republican Party.” The Hill reported.
The censure list Riggleman officiating a same-sex marriage in July of last year, disagreeing with Donald Trump’s baseless allegations of voter fraud, calling for Trump to concede the election and for considering to vote for President-elect Biden instead of Donald Trump.

“Now may it be resolved that the Appomattox County Republican Committee censure Denver Riggleman for his betrayal to voters in the 5th District who elected him into office in the first place, for betraying the very morals, principals, and values of the Republican Party, for his petty, immoral, and ludicrous behavior before and after the 5th Congressional District Republican Convention, and for his open consideration to vote for former Vice President Joe Biden instead of President Donald J. Trump,” the statement reads.
Last month Riggleman, a former intelligence officer and Air Force veteran, told CNN he was being called a “traitor” for simply recognizing Joe Biden as the president-elect.
“I don’t know what’s in their hearts, and I wish I could tell you. I’ve tried to call. I’ve tried to talk to individuals about this,” Riggleman said. “And by the way my own — well, I shouldn’t say this exactly — but people very close to me have called me pretty much a traitor to the cause because of my belief in data and statistical analysis and technology and people that have taken an oath to the Constitution.”

Riggleman lost the Republican nomination at the party’s district convention to Bob Good in June, after a controversy stemming from the fact that he officiated a same-sex wedding.
“Glad the @VA_GOP finally admits they rig a convention because of the wedding. We already knew this, but here’s your sign I believe in marriage equality and I despise conspiracy theories. I was also censured by the #Kraken because I thought it was #calamari,” Riggleman tweeted in response to the censure.
