White House denies report that Biden is weighing dropping out.

The White House is denying that President Joe Biden is considering dropping out of the 2024 presidential contest.

On Wednesday, the New York Times reported that Biden told a “key ally” he is considering whether to remain in the presidential race as calls for him to drop out grow after a disastrous debate performance last week.

But, White House Senior Deputy Press Secretary Andrew Bates said the report is “absolutely false.”

“That claim is absolutely false,” Bates wrote on X. “If the New York Times had provided us with more than 7 minutes to comment we would have told them so.”

Biden-Harris Principal Deputy Campaign Manager Quentin Fulks also denied that the president is considering leaving the race, telling CNN bluntly, “that’s false!”

The Times reported that Biden told a key ally that his presidential campaign may not be able to be saved if he is not able to convince voters he up to the job following his disastrous debate last Thursday.

“He knows if he has two more events like that, we’re in a different place’ by the end of the weekend,” the ally told the Times, referring to Biden’s performance on the debate stage.
