Atlanta Mayor Keisha Lance Bottoms announced on Thursday evening that she will not be running for a second term next year.
According to the Atlanta Journal- Constitution, Bottoms made the announcement during a private call with friends, staffers and allies.
It is a shocking announcement for Bottoms who many political experts say was in a strong position heading into reelection given her rising national profile and close connections to President Joe Biden.
