Boebert says God encouraged her to switch districts.

Rep. Lauren Boebert (R-Colo.) claims a conversation she had with God was partly behind her decision to switch districts in the 2024 election.

On Sunday, Boebert told The Washington Post that she knew there would be challenges in the new district but will keep fighting after receiving a message from God encouraging her to keep going.

“I’m not dumb,” she said. “I knew all the attacks that would come my way. But I talked to God, I asked ‘How do I address this? Will this be perceived that I’m not fighting?’ And God said, ‘Do you have more faith in your ability to fight or my ability to open a door?'”

Boebert announced in December that she would be leaving Colorado’s 3rd district to run for re-election in the less competitive and more GOP-friendly 4th district. The decision came after she narrowly defeated Democrat Adam Frisch in the 3rd district to win re-election in 2022.

Frisch was running again in 2024 and had a strong chance of defeating Boebert after a slew of public scandals and embarrassing headlines turned voters against her.

In the video announcing the district switch, Boebert said “it is the right move for me personally and it’s the right decision for those who support our conservative movement.”

However, things haven’t been smooth sailing for the scandal-plague congresswoman in her new district. She has received a chilly reception from potential voters and her opponents have labeled her a carpetbagger. In a straw poll conducted at the first primary debate Boebert finished fifth out of ten candidates.

The congresswoman’s family drama has also followed her into her new district. Her eldest son Tyler, 18, was recently arrested and hit with 22 charges for allegedly breaking into cars and using stolen credit cards. This comes a month after a confrontation with her ex-husband at a restaurant resulted in police being called to the scene.

But Boebert’s re-election bid in her new district received a boost Saturday when she was endorsed by Donald Trump. The former president called her a “proven Conservative and Effective Leader who delivers for Colorado, and our America First agenda.”
