Cop fired over racist social media posts after two days on the job.

Chaz Foy, a police officer in Indiana was fired after racist social media posts he made before joining the force resurfaced online.

Foy wrote in a June 2022 post on Facebook, “With gas hitting 4.89 and climbing, let’s all take a moment to appreciate better times.” Beneath the text was an image of former Minneapolis police officer Derek Chauvin kneeling on George Floyd’s neck, according to the IndyStar

Chauvin was found guilty in April 2021 of unintentional second-degree murder, third-degree murder and second-degree manslaughter in the death of Floyd. He was sentenced later that year to 22-1/2 years in prison.

Another post on Foy’s Facebook from April 2021 shows a cartoon image of a Black man with the caption “Martin Looter King.”

The Marion Police Department was made aware of the racist posts on Tuesday. Foy, who was sworn in on Monday, was fired Wednesday.

“The posts are not in keeping with the standards of the Marion Police Department,” Marion Chief of Police Angela Haley said in a statement. “I do not condone this type of behavior and will not tolerate it.”
