Indiana GOP Rep. Jim Banks announced on Tuesday that he is running for US Senate.
“We NEED conservatives in Washington who aren’t afraid to fight Biden’s radical agenda. That’s why I am running to represent our great state of Indiana in the United States Senate,” Banks wrote in a tweet.
Banks objected to the certification of the 2020 election results in Congress on Jan. 6 2021 and urged the Supreme Court to take up a Texas lawsuit seeking to declare that the 2020 election was unconstitutional in an attempt to reinstate Donald Trump as president. Then-Speaker Nancy Pelosi (D-Calif.) rejected Banks’ nomination to serve on the committee investigating the Jan. 6 Capitol riot because of those actions.
Banks is running for an open seat in Indiana in 2024. Current Sen. Mike Braun (R) is retiring from Congress to run for governor.
