The son of Rep. Lauren Boebert (R-Colo.) has been arrested on charges of sexual exploitation of a child, according to the Garfield County Sheriff’s Office (GCSO).

GCSO said the investigation involves an incident that occurred on January 1, 2024.

Tyler Boebert, 21, was arrested on Sunday and faces three charges of sexual exploitation of a child. Two of the three charges are class 3 felonies, including one involving inducing or enticing and another involving possession with intent. The third, involving video, is a class 4 felony.

Boebert also faces two class 4 felony counts of contributing to the delinquency of a minor for the alleged incidents.

He was released from jail on a $10,000 bond on Monday. He is scheduled to appear in Garfield County court on August 19.

In a statement, Rep. Boebert said, “I love my son. We take these allegations very seriously and pray for everyone affected during this challenging time.”

Boebert has had similar run-ins with the law in the past. In February of 2024, he was arrested in connection with a string of vehicle break-ins and credit card thefts in Rifle, Colorado.

He pleaded guilty to attempted ID theft and was sentenced to 80 hours of community service, a $1,200 probation fee, and a two-year deferred sentence.

Boebert’s accomplices in his January 2024 crimes were a 16-year-old white male, a 16-year-old white female, and a 17-year-old white female. They were not identified in court documents at the time because they are all underage.

It is unclear if Boebert’s recent arrest is linked to his previous case.
