Tyler Boebert, the son of Colorado congresswoman Rep. Lauren Boebert (R) will spend no time in prison following his arrest in connection to a string of car break-ins and property thefts he allegedly committed earlier this year.
Tyler, 19, faced 14 charges including felony counts for identity theft and misdemeanor charges for criminal trespassing.
Tyler and three accomplices were caught on surveillance video using stolen credit cards from their victims’ parked cars at multiple locations in Rifle, Colorado on February 19 and 20.
Among the victims was a three-year-old and a woman with a brain tumor who told police she had just $75 “left to her name.”
On Thursday, Tyler pleaded guilty to one count of identity theft with the intent to obtain an item of value.
All other charges he faced were dropped as part of the plea agreement, according to FOX 31
Ninth Judicial District Judge John F. Neiley issued a two year deferred sentence to Tyler. He was also ordered to complete 80 hours of community service and pay court costs.
“I don’t know a lot about you, but I know you are a young man,” Neiley said before sentencing. “You were 18 when you committed this offense. You have no prior criminal history, and this is an opportunity you should not squander.”
If Tyler fulfills the stipulations surrounding his probation the felony will be removed from this record.
