Dan Sullivan weighed in on the Alaska Senate race on Sunday to endorse Dan Sullivan over Dan Sullivan.

Incumbent Sen. Dan S. Sullivan advanced in Alaska’s non-partisan primary race for his seat on Tuesday alongside Mary Peltola, a former Democratic congresswoman.

Alaska has a primary system in which candidates from all parties compete on the same primary ballot, and the top four finishers advance to the November general election, which is decided by ranked-choice voting.

Another candidate, a former teacher and US Forest Service employee named Dan J. Sullivan, was also on the primary ballot and is running as a Republican. He also advanced to the November election. David B Leslie, a Democrat, rounded out the top four.

Republicans have argued that Dan J. Sullivan is a Democratic plant to pull votes from his namesake in the crucial race. Dan J. has denied the allegations.

On Sunday, another Dan Sullivan weighed in on the race to endorse Dan S. Sullivan.

“As the OG Dan Sullivan, I urge Alaskans to vote for Senator Daniel S. Sullivan,” Dan A. Sullivan, the former Mayor of Anchorage, wrote. “He’s been great for Alaska.”

Democrats are eyeing Alaska as a potential pickup in November since well before the same-name saga consumed the race, NBC News noted.

Donald Trump carried the state by double digits in each of the last three presidential elections, but his growing unpopularity is creating an opening for Democrats. Also in Democrats’ favor is that they believe Peltola is a strong recruit.

Peltola previously represented the state in Congress after winning a special election in 2022, becoming the first Native Alaskan to do so. She won a full term later that year but then lost re-election in 2024 by 3 percentage points, vastly outperforming Democratic presidential nominee Kamala Harris at the top of the ticket.
