Far-right political commentator Milo Yiannopoulos was apprehended by Immigration and Customs Enforcement (ICE) agents on Friday.

According to TMZ, Yiannopoulos was detained at an airport in New Orleans ahead of a concert headlined by Kanye West, now known as Ye, scheduled for Friday night.

A spokesperson for the Department of Homeland Security said, “Yiannopoulos legally entered the country on May 14, 2019, through New York City, New York. He chose to overstay his welcome in violation of our nation’s laws.”

“Yiannopoulos was issued a final order of removal by an Immigration Judge on July 22, after failing to show up for his immigration hearing,” DHS continued. “He will remain in ICE custody pending removal.”

Yiannopoulos has been a vocal supporter of ICE operations in the past despite being a British citizen.

“California needs ICE checkpoints at supermarket entrances, gas stations, strip malls, intersections and government buildings, with on the spot deportation for anyone who can’t prove they are in the US legally,” he posted on social media in June 2025.

“Total legal immunity for ICE agents when they’re on duty,” he wrote in September 2025.

Yiannopoulos, a former Breitbart columnist, also served as Kanye West’s chief of staff and as an unpaid intern for former Rep. Marjorie Taylor Greene (R-GA). Yiannopoulos later created a campaign finance fiasco for the former Georgia congresswoman when he charged her campaign $7000 for the purchase of Ye’s domain name for the controversial rapper’s own campaign website.

He drew the ire of far-right influencers like Benny Johnson in recent months when Johnson threatened to sue him after he claimed Johnson was gay and had slept with boys at right-wing conferences.

Far-right influencer Laura Loomer, who also had a public fallout with Yiannopoulos, is taking credit for first sharing news of his immigration status.

Loomer alleged in December that Yiannopoulos overstayed his visa and has been illegally residing in the U.S.

In a social media post, Loomer claimed Yiannopoulos called for her to be “assassinated” at the height of their feud, prompting her to report his immigration status to authorities.

“When Milo called for me to be assassinated, I reported him to ICE and the FBI,” she wrote on Twitter.
