Donald Trump-endorsed election denier Mike Lindell has lost his Republican primary for governor of Minnesota.

Lindell, the “MyPillow Guy” has been one of Trump’s most outspoken supporters and a persistent proponent of the big lie that the 2020 election was stolen. He lost a defamation lawsuit last year and was ordered to pay $2.3 million to a former employee of a voting systems company, whom he called a traitor.

In a post on social media Tuesday morning, Trump said Lindell “deserves a BIG WIN.”

Lindell campaigned on Trump’s endorsement, telling attendees at Minnesota FarmFest, “I have an advantage over everyone up here. I can call up and work with the president of the United States.”

But Lindell’s campaign has faced friction with the state party establishment, which endorsed former health executive Kendall Qualls at its May convention.

With 72 percent of the vote in, NBC News called the race for Minnesota state Rep. Lisa Demuth (R). She received 44.6% of the vote to Lindell’s 31.4%. Qualls is in third with 21.4%.

Demuth will face popular four-term Democrat Sen. Amy Klobuchar (D), who won the Democratic primary for governor.

The race for Minnesota governor is open after Gov. Tim Walz, the 2024 Democratic vice-presidential nominee, ended his bid for a third term earlier this year.
