The principal of an elementary school in Florida has resigned after the institution held a Black-only assembly for students with low scores on a standardized test.

Donelle Evensen the principal at Bunnell Elementary School informed Flagler County Schools Superintendent LaShakia Moore that she is resigning from that post on Thursday, according to a press release.

Last month, staff members at Bunnell Elementary pulled Black fourth and fifth grade students—whether low scoring or not— out of their classes to attend a PowerPoint presentation about low standardized test scores. The presentation included slides saying: “(African Americans) have underperformed on standardized assessment for the last past three years. Only 32% are at level 3 or higher.”

They also told the students that those with higher scores had a better chance of going to college, while those with lower scores had a higher chance of going to jail or getting killed.

“If you don’t improve, you could end up in jail or the victim of gun violence,” one presenter reportedly told the students.

White students whether low scoring or not, were not called into an assembly, according to do WESH.

Moore has apologized for the incident and said the investigation into the assembly is still ongoing.
