Fani Willis to Jim Jordan: “You lack a basic understanding of the law.”

Fani Willis calls Jim Jordan a "clown" who is trying to interfere in Trump's case.

Fulton County District Attorney Fani Willis wrote a scathing response to House Judiciary Committee Chairman Jim Jordan (R-Ohio) after he requested information relating to the probe of Donald Trump’s efforts to overturn election results Georgia, which ultimately led to the former president being indicted a fourth time.

In the letter, Willis accuses Jordan of overstepping his congressional authority with “your attempt to interfere with and obstruction this office’s prosecution.”

“Your job description as a legislator does not include criminal law enforcement, nor does it include supervising a specific criminal trial because you believe that doing so will promote your partisan political objectives,” she said.

“Your letter makes clear that you lack a basic understanding of the law, its practice, and the ethical obligations of attorneys generally and prosecutors specifically,” Willis added.

Donald Trump and 18 allies were indicted in Georgia last month over their efforts to overturn his 2020 election loss in the state.

The charges include False Statements and Solicitation of State Legislatures, high-ranking state officials, the creation and distribution of false electoral college documents, the harassment of election workers, unlawful breach of election equipment, and acts of obstruction.

The indictment also brings Racketeer Influenced and Corrupt Organizations (RICO) charges against Trump and others involved in the plot to overturn the results of the election in the state.

In Thursday’s letter Willis suggested that Jordan buy a book on racketeering prosecution.

“For a more thorough understanding of Georgia’s RICO statute, its application and similar laws in other states, I encourage you to read ‘RICO State-by-State.’ As a non-member of the bar, you can purchase a copy for two hundred forty-nine dollars [$249],” she wrote.

Finally, she said Jordan should investigate the threats against her and members of her staff since he has taken such an interest in her office.

“As it seems you have a personal interest in the Fulton County District Attorney’s Office, you should consider directing the USDOJ to investigate the racist threats that have come to my staff and me because of this investigation,” she said.
