Karl Rove says Ronna McDaniel is "in trouble" over Michigan call.

Karl Rove said RNC Chairwoman Ronna McDaniel may be “in trouble” after an audio clip was published of Donald Trump pressuring Michigan canvassers to not certify the 2020 election results.

In the November 17, 2020 call obtained by Detroit News, Trump and McDaniel were heard promising lawyers to Monica Palmer and William Hartmann, two members of the Wayne County Board of Canvassers, if they decided to not certify election results.

“If you can go home tonight, do not sign it…..We will get you attorneys,” McDaniel promised.

In an interview with Fox News Friday, Rove said McDaniel might have landed herself in hot water with those comments.

“I think the chairwoman is in trouble here because she’s saying to them, if you agree to make it change your decision on certification in Wayne County, we’ll get your lawyers to stand by you. And again, I think that was highly inappropriate,” Rove said in a clip posted by Mediaite.

Rove is not the only person to think McDaniel could face potential legal trouble over the call.

Georgia State law professor Anthony Michael Kreis, said McDaniel offering the canvassers attorneys in exchange for a corrupt official act could be considered a bribe under the Michigan Penal Code, which is a felony.

McDaniel has since doubled down on her comments, telling Detroit News: “What I said publicly and repeatedly at the time, as referenced in my letter on Nov. 21, 2020, is that there was ample evidence that warranted an audit.”
