MyPillow CEO Mike Lindell lashed out at the attorneys representing former Dominion Voting Systems employee Eric Coomer who accused Lindell of defaming him following Donald Trump’s loss in the 2020 presidential election, according to videos and transcripts of his deposition.
“Don’t sit and scold me already, mister. I’ll do whatever I have to do,” Lindell told Coomer’s attorney at the start of a March 8 deposition.
“You’re just a lawyer,” he continued. “You’re an ambulance-chasing lawyer, so don’t start with me. I got all day. I’ll take as much time as you want, so let’s go. You’re not my boss. You’re just a lawyer, a frivolous lawyer. So go. Don’t start scolding me.”
“Rotten, horrible lawyers like you and the media saying, ‘Oh Mike Lindell is trying to save this country just to make money. I have lost everything I’ve had so far, you got it?” he yelled later in the deposition. “You’re an evil, evil man. There, that’s on the record. Very evil.”
Coomer, the former director of product strategy and security at Dominion Voting Systems, filed a defamation lawsuit against Lindell claiming that the pillow magnate accused him of being “a traitor to the United States,” based on a debunked conspiracy theory he helped to rig the 2020 presidential election.
In the deposition Lindell called the defamation case “frivolous” and a “disgrace.”
“This is a frivolous case and if you’re representing this guy and you’ve read this case, you are a disgusting lawyer, period,” he said. “I can’t believe anybody would take this. This is absolutely disgusting, it’s a disgrace to our country, it’s a disgrace to you.”
Lindell also directed some of his ire towards US District Judge Nina Wang who is overseeing the case.
“I don’t care. She should have dismissed this a long time ago. She hasn’t ruled on that, there’s a problem. I got a problem with her too,” Lindell said when he was reminded that the judge would see the tape of his deposition.
“The judge did not dismiss this case. We put in to get it dismissed and she ruled, an unfair ruling, saying, “Well go ahead and do discovery and waste all your time,” while I’m sitting there not doing nothing. That’s what that judge is doing! So don’t tell me what the judge is doing and you just let me worry about the judge reading this okay?” he said.
“Don’t worry if I say something that offends the judge, okay? You just let me worry about that,” Lindell added.
The videos and transcripts were released because Coomer’s attorneys said they have tried to depose Lindell three times, and each time he was “vulgar, threatening, loud, disrespectful to Dr. Coomer’s counsel and the Court, evasive, and largely non-responsive to questioning.”
Coomer’s attorney also said Lindell walked out of a session last month to to call into Steve Bannon’s “War Room” podcast, where he hawked his company’s pillows, sandals, and dog blankets.
