Police arrest Texas student who brought pistol and rifle to school.

A high school student in Texas was arrested on Wednesday for carrying weapons in a weapon-free school zone, just one day after 21 people were murdered at an elementary school in Uvalde, Texas.

The Richardson Police Department said they received a call just before 11 a.m. local time reporting that a male who looked like he was holding a rifle had last been seen walking toward the Berkner High School.

Officers were able to identify the suspect as a student at the school. He was located inside the school but no weapons were found on him.

“Further investigation led to the discovery of a vehicle used by the suspect in the parking lot of 1551 East Spring Valley Road. Inside the vehicle, officers observed what appeared to be an AK-47 style pistol and a replica AR-15 style Orbeez rifle,” police said.

Police did not release the name of the suspect because he is a minor, but said he had been arrested and charged with unlawfully carrying weapons in a weapon-free school zone.

The news comes one day after an 18-year-old Uvalde High School student barricaded himself in a classroom at Robb Elementary School and killed 21 people including 19 children.
