Trump supporter attacks elderly poll worker who asked him to remove MAGA hat.

A Texas man assaulted an elderly election clerk who asked him to remove his Make America Great Again hat in the polling place.

According to Bexar County police, the incident occurred Thursday evening around 6:30 pm when 63-year-old Jesse Lutzenberger was asked to remove the hat to comply with Texas election rules.

Under Texas law, wearing clothing or accessories that support or oppose a specific candidate or party within 100 feet of a polling location is considered electioneering which is a class C misdemeanor.

Lutzenberger initially complied with the request to remove the hat to cast his ballot but, he put the hat back on while still inside the building.

The elections clerk attempted to escort Lutzenberger out and asked him again to remove the hat. That’s when Lutzenberger punched the 69-year-old man several times in the face.

Bexar County Sheriff Javier Salazar said Lutzenberger “throw an arm back toward the victim.”

“The victim seemed to push off of the suspect,” Salazar said. “At that point, the suspect then turned and threw several punches right at the face of the victim.”

Lutzenberger was later arrested at his home and charged with injury to the elderly.

The election worker’s injuries were not life-threatening. He was treated at the scene by emergency medical personnel.
