Ted Cruz urges his neighbors not be "assholes" after his wife's private messages planning CancĂșn vacay were leaked.

Sen. Ted Cruz urged his neighbors to not be “assholes” after private group chat messages of his wife planning the family’s CancĂșn vacation during last week’s winter storm in Texas were leaked to the New York Times.

“I will say, Heidi was pretty pissed at that,” Cruz said during an appearance on the ‘Ruthless’ podcast. “She was over at the neighbor’s house yesterday, sort of walking through that. We have a number of Republicans who are neighbors but we also have a lot of Democrats, folks on our streets who put up Beto signs, which I thought was a little rude.”

“Here’s a suggestion, just don’t be assholes,” he added. “You know, treat each other as human beings have some degree, some modicum of respect.”

The leak of Heidi Cruz’s messages to the New York Times, blew up Sen. Cruz’s defense about being a good father to his girls who wanted to take a trip with friends since school was cancelled.

In the text messages obtained last week, Heidi Cruz said their house was ‘FREEZING,’ and proposed a getaway until Sunday. She invited others to join them at the Ritz-Carlton in CancĂșn, where they had stayed “many times,” noting the room price this week ($309 per night) and its good security.
