Twitter suspends GOP senator for violating media policy.

Twitter has suspended the account of Sen. Steve Daines (R-Mont.), for violating the platform’s media policy.

A statement on the @SteveDaines account Tuesday says: “@SteveDaines’s account is temporarily unavailable because it violates the Twitter Media Policy.”

The statement has a link to Twitter’s ‘Sensitive Media Policy‘ which says users “may not post media that is graphic or share violent or adult nudity and sexual behavior within live video or in profile header, List banner images, or Community cover photos. Media depicting excessively gory content, sexual violence and/or assault, bestiality or necrophilia is also not permitted.”

Before his suspension, Daines’ account had a profile photo of him and his wife posing with a Montana antelope while hunting. A screenshot shared to social media shows that the lawmaker was warned that the picture violates the platform’s policy and was given the option to delete it.

Daines, the chairman of the Senate Republicans’ campaign arm, bragged about his wife being “a great shot” in an interview with Fox News on Tuesday. His office also slammed Twitter for suspending the account.

“The Senator thinks it’s preposterous that a picture of him and his wife hunting — an activity that is engrained in the Montana way of life — would be against Twitter rules,” Daines press secretary Rachel Dumke said in a statement to Fox News Digital. “Our team has reached out to Twitter, and we’ll be working to get this resolved.”
