Former Attorney General Bill Barr called his ex-boss, former President Donald Trump a “consummate narcissist” who constantly engages in “reckless conduct” and put his ego above everything else.
“The fact of the matter is, he is a consummate narcissist. And he constantly engages in reckless conduct that puts his political followers at risk and the conservative and Republican agenda at risk,” Barr said on CBS’ “Face the Nation.”
“He will always put his own interests, and gratifying his own ego, ahead of everything else, including the country’s interest, there’s no question about it” he added. “This is the perfect example of that.”
Barr continued: “He’s a very petty individual who will always put his interests ahead of the country’s, his personal gratification of his ego, but our country can’t be a therapy session for a troubled man like this.”
Barr has ramped up his criticism of Trump following the former president’s indictment on 37 charges relating to his alleged mishandling of classified documents and obstruction of justice. Trump has pleaded not guilty to all charges.
Last week, Barr who served as attorney general under Trump from 2019 to 2020, called the indictment “damning” and said the former president is “toast” if prosecutors are able to prove “even half of it is true.”
