CNN commentator says Trump’s best path forward is to do nothing and just take credit for Biden’s economic trends: “Go out play golf!”

Trump says shut down is ‘Biden’s problem to solve’ after he and Musk blew up bipartisan spending deal.

CNN’s economic commentator Catherine Rampell said the best thing President-elect Donald Trump can do in his second term is to “go play golf” and “just take credit for the economy he inherited.”

Rampell told CNN anchor Abby Phillip on Thursday’s edition of CNN NewsNight that Trump’s plans for the economy are “terrible.”

“All of the things that are his priorities, whether it’s global tariffs, deporting 10 to 20 million people, politicizing the Fed, devaluing the dollar — all of those things would be inflationary and or cause the economy to crash,” Rampell said in a clip highlighted by Mediaite.

“I think the very best thing Trump could do is nothing at all,” she continued. “You know, go out play golf! Take credit for the economic trends that we already have that are already quite strong.”

Rampell cited declining inflation, “robust” quarterly GDP growth and wages outpacing inflation for over a year as evidence of the strong economy.

“Just take credit,” she said. “Take credit for the economy he inherited and do nothing else and that’s the best possible outcome we can hope for.”

Voters’ frustration with the state of the economy fueled Trump’s re-election victory this week, even as experts predict that his policies would worsen inflation.

“People are obviously unhappy with inflation. Trump’s policies aren’t a remedy – they will feed the fire,” Robert Lawrence, a professor of trade and investment at Harvard University’s Kennedy School of Government, told ABC News.
