Las Vegas Raiders coach Jon Gruden labeled Joe Biden a “clueless p****,” in 2011, according to leaked emails published by the New York Times.
In the emails, which were sent from a private account while Gruden worked for ESPN as an analyst for “Monday Night Football,” he referred to then Vice-President Biden as a “nervous clueless pussy.”
During that time, President Barack Obama was gearing up to run for reelection for a second term in office. The Times notes that Gruden also criticized Obama’s 2012 reelection campaign, but the outlet did not publish specific comments he made about the former president.
Other emails show Gruden using a number of misogynist and anti-gay slurs to disparage NFL Commissioner Roger Goodell, calling him a “faggot” and a “clueless anti-football pussy.” He also criticized the league for drafting a gay player.
Gruden resigned on Monday saying in a statement, “I love the Raiders and do not want to be a distraction. Thank you to all the players, coaches, staff, and fans of Raider Nation. I’m sorry, I never meant to hurt anyone.”
