Former Trump White House lawyer says choosing Gaetz as AG is a “f*ck you to America.”

Ty Cobb calls Judge Cannon a ‘petty, partisan prima donna’

Ty Cobb, a former Trump White House attorney, slammed his former boss for selecting former Republican Congressman Rep. Matt Gaetz (Fla.) for the role of attorney general in his administration, saying the choice is a “f–k you to America.”

In an interview on CNN’s OutFront, Cobb explained why he described Gaetz’s nomination in such terms.

“This is just a shocking event, and intentionally so. I mean, he’s a disrupter, Trump is,” Cobb said. “But Matt Gaetz is just simply unqualified, both academically, professionally, ethically, morally and experientially.”

“He has no business being in this conversation,” he said, adding that the selection was “not serious.”

Cobb also recalled instances when the Florida lawmaker would visited the White House during Trump’s first term.

“When he walked into the White House when I was in the White House, serious staffers threw up red flags,” Cobb said. “They looked the other way and hoped he wasn’t there to visit them.”

On Wednesday, Trump tapped Gaetz, who has been the subject of a Justice Department investigation in the past, to lead the DOJ.

Gaetz was also under investigation by the House Ethics Committee over allegations of sex trafficking, sexual misconduct and drug use.

Gaetz resigned from Congress after Trump nominated him for AG, thus ending the committee’s probe since the House no longer has investigatory jurisdiction over him.
