The Georgia Republican Party passed a resolution on Saturday at the state’s GOP convention, censuring the Republican Secretary of State Brad Raffensperger.
Raffensperger was officially censured Saturday due to “dereliction of his constitutional duty,” according to the Atlanta-Journal Constitution.
The resolution says Raffensperger undermined the security of elections by allowing mass mailings of absentee ballot applications which “created opportunities for fraud and overwhelmed election offices.”
It also calls on Gov. Brian Kemp to “repair the damage that has been done” and secure Georgia’s elections.
Gov. Kemp was met with boos at the convention. Both Kemp and Raffensperger are being targeted by Trump and his allies because they refused his request to overturn the results of the election in the state.
