MAGA loyalist Kash Patel was not Donald Trump’s first choice to lead the Federal Bureau of Investigations.
According to a report from Axios, Patel was nominated for the position after Trump’s first choice Missouri Attorney General Andrew Bailey, flunked his Mar-a-Lago meeting with Trump.
Sources with knowledge of the matter told the outlet that while Bailey looked the part, he “just didn’t have the presence in the room.”
So, Trump decided to nominate Patel for the role instead since he is looking for people to join his administration who “get him and understand him.”
“Last time, there were lots of people who didn’t understand the vision or buy into the vision,” the source added.
Patel has called for stripping the FBI of its intelligence-gathering role, purging its ranks of any employee who refuses to support Trump’s agenda, railed against the so-called ‘deep state’ and vowed to punish Trump enemies including journalists.
