Florida Sen. Marco Rubio is already signalling that he may oppose a number of President-elect Joe Biden’s cabinet nominees.
Rubio criticized Biden’s picks as Ivy Leaguers who will serve as “caretakers of America’s decline.”
“Biden’s cabinet picks went to Ivy League schools, have strong resumes, attend all the right conferences & will be polite & orderly caretakers of America’s decline,” Rubio wrote in a tweet. “I support American greatness. And I have no interest in returning to the ‘normal’ that left us dependent on China.”
Rubio’s remarks come one day after Biden announced a number of key foreign policy and national security positions. Cabinet-level appointees, like the Secretary of State Anthony Blinken, Treasury Secretary nominee, Janet Yellen and Secretary of Homeland Security Alejandro Mayorkas, require confirmation by the Senate.
