One person is dead following an alleged ICE-involved shooting in Biddeford, Maine, state officials say.

“A person was killed. ICE was involved. State Police and the Department of Public Safety are now on scene to gather details and would expect the FBI to investigate as well,” Maine House Speaker Ryan Fecteau said in a statement. “These are the details that I have at this time. I will provide further updates, as they are relayed to me.”

The incident comes less than a week after Lorenzo Salgado Araujo, a builder, was shot and killed by an ICE agent on his way to work in Houston, Texas. Salgado Araujo was killed during a traffic stop in what ICE initially described as a targeted enforcement operation, though Salgado Araujo was not the target of the operation.

ICE agents attempted to stop his van because there was an individual inside who merely “resembled the target,” a Department of Homeland Security spokesperson said.

The spokesperson added that Salgado Araujo  “weaponized” his vehicle during the encounter, a claim witnesses deny.

The incident in Maine would be the 11th time immigration officials have fatally shot someone during Donald Trump’s second term.
