Donald Trump has called for every member on the House January 6 committee that investigated the attack on the Capitol to be jailed in his first interview since winning the presidential election.
“Honestly, they should go to jail,” Trump told NBC News’ Kristen Welker on Sunday, in a clip highlighted by Mediaite.
“So you think Liz Cheney should go to jail?” Welker asked.
“For what they did,” Trump responded, adding that he thinks “everybody” on the House January 6 Committee should go to jail.
Trump spent the 2024 election cycle promising retribution against his perceived political enemies. He has nominated staunch loyalists Pam Bondi as attorney general and Kash Patel to lead FBI.
Asked on Sunday if he will direct his Department of Justice and the FBI to go after his enemies and put them in jail, Trump said “no,” but added “I think that they’ll have to look at that.”
