Trump campaign files another lawsuit in Wisconsin after the state certify election results.

Lawyers for Donald Trump filed a new lawsuit in Wisconsin to try and overturn the results of the election in the state even though state officials have already certified the results.

The partial recount requested and paid for by the Trump campaign ended on Monday with President-elect Biden receiving a slight bump in Milwaukee county.

According to The Hill, attorneys for Trump filed a new suit in the state’s Supreme Court that focuses on about 221,000 ballots cast in two Democratic counties previously targeted by the lame-duck president: Milwaukee and Dane. They are asking the Wisconsin Supreme Court to block the certification of results until the ballots they deem “illegal and invalid” are tossed out.

“The Recount Petition details mistakes, irregularities and illegal behavior affecting more than enough votes to alter the outcome of the Election,” the suit states.

Trump and his team have failed in the courts so far and now time is not on their side.

Under the federal “safe harbor” law, the results determined by the state will be respected if challenges to the outcome are resolved by Dec. 8. The Electoral College meets on Dec. 14, and Congress is to count the electoral votes on Jan. 6.  USA Today reports, State law says challenges to election results are to be filed in circuit court, but Trump brought his lawsuit directly with the state Supreme Court, where conservatives hold a 4-3 majority. The justices did not immediately say whether they would take the case.
