Olympic gold medalist recognized at pro-Trump riot at U.S. Capitol.

Two-time Olympic gold medalist, swimmer Klete Keller, has been identified as a member of the pro-Trump mob that stormed the U.S. Capitol last Wednesday to delay the certification of President-elect Joe Biden’s victory.

According to swimming news website SwimSwam, at least a dozen people within the sport have identified the 6ft 6in man seen wearing a US Olympic Team jacket with “USA” printed on the back and down the sleeves, as Klete Keller.

Keller has since deleted his social media accounts, but he was an outspoken supporter of Donald Trump.

The New York Times confirmed the story, noting that efforts to contact Keller was unsuccessful as the cellphone number listed under his name gave a message that said he was unavailable.

Keller a former teammate of swimming superstar Michael Phelps has won three medals in swimming at the Olympic games. He won two gold medals in the 2004 and 2008 Olympic games in the 4x200m relay after taking silver in the event in 2000.

Five people have died in connection to the deadly riots at the U.S. Capitol including Capitol Police Officer Brian Sicknick who died after he was hit in the head with a fire extinguisher while physically engaging with protesters.
