A mom at an eighth grade football game in Ohio was tased and arrested on Wednesday for refusing to wear a face mask.
The woman had a face mask in her pocket but refused to wear it even when she was asked by the school’s assistant principal to comply with the state’s mask mandate.
The woman who was later identified as Alecia Kitts, struggled with a police officer for about two minutes before he tased her.
In the crowd of 300 fans, Kitts and her mother were the only two individuals who weren’t complying with the state’s mask mandate, according to Logan Middle School athletic director Theresa Schultheiss.
Marietta City Schools Superintendent Will Hampton praised his staff’s handling of the issue. “We’re talking about an individual who didn’t follow the rules and made a spectacle of herself,” he said.
The Logan Police Department confirmed Wednesday that the incident remains under investigation, the Marietta Times reports.
