The state of Alabama reversed course and apologized after initially blocking a local man from using his personalized ‘fuck Joe Biden’ license plate.

Nathan Kirk, owner of the Blount County Tactical gun store, personalized his license plate with the acronym LGBFJB, a reference to “Let’s go Brandon,” followed by “Fuck Joe Biden,” according to Al.com.

Kirk received the specialized license plate in October. Still, the Alabama Department of Revenue notified him in a February letter that it would not renew the registration for the plate due to objectionable language.

Kirk’s story got national attention after it was picked up by conservative outlets. Last week, the department issued a new letter to him not only allowing him to keep the license plate, but also apologizing.

“The Alabama Department of Revenue, Motor Vehicle Division, has determined the above-referenced license plate will not be recalled,” the department said to Kirk in a letter dated March 9. “We apologize for any inconvenience this may have caused.”
