Micki Witthoeft, the mother of slain insurrectionist Ashli Babbitt confronted a Capitol rioter on Thursday after he suggested that Babbitt’s death was faked.
Alan Hostetter, a former chief of the La Habra, California, Police Department, was a member of the pro-Trump mob that stormed the Capitol on Jan. 6. He was sentenced to more than 11 years in prison Thursday. Hostetter was found guilty of several charges relating to the Capitol attack in July, including conspiracy to obstruct an official proceeding, obstruction of an official proceeding.
At his sentencing hearing Thursday, Hostetter repeated several conspiracy theories about the attack including that it was a “false flag” operation set up by the CIA, FBI and the Department of Homeland Security, according to NBC News. He said he believed there were crisis actors and federal informants involved, and that the death of Trump supporter Ashli Babbitt was faked.
“Once the Ashli Babbitt psy-op falls, this whole thing becomes undone,” Hostetter said.
Witthoeft confronted him after the hearing and told him that her daughter is dead.
“I assure you she is dead. What the f— is it you’re trying to say?” she said.
“Was she cremated?” Hostetter asked.
“You need help,” Witthoeft replied. “Arrogant s—.”
Babbitt was fatally shot on Jan. 6 while attempting to crawl through a broken window leading to the Speaker’s Lobby during the insurrection. The officer who shot her has been cleared of any criminal wrongdoing.
