Djokovic will not be able to play tennis tournaments in the US because he’s not vaccinated.

Tennis star Novak Djokovic revealed on Wednesday that he will no be playing tennis tournaments in the US because he is unvaccinated.

Djokovic said he was listed to compete at two tournaments in the US this month but, “I knew it would be unlikely I’d be able to travel. The CDC has confirmed that regulations won’t be changing so I won’t be able to play in the US.”

Djokovic, a 20-time grand slam tennis champion will miss both the Indian Wells Open from March 7 to March 20 and the Miami Open on March 21.

Djokovic was barred from playing in the Australian open in January for violating the country’s vaccination requirement. He was detained and subsequently deported.

In the US, the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC) recommends that non-U.S. citizen and non-U.S. immigrant “be fully vaccinated with the primary series of an accepted COVID-19 vaccine to travel to the United States by plane.”
