Eric Trump said on Wednesday that the Republican National Committee (RNC) needed to ‘restore trust’ which is why they hired his wife and Donald Trump’s daughter-in-law, Lara Trump as co-chair.
“They had to restore trust in the RNC,” Trump said during an interview on Fox & Friends. “The first thing that they did is they went in there, and they got rid of the vast majority of the RNC, and there were a lot of Never Trumpers there, I hate to say it.”
“The second they did that, all of the sudden the spigots got turned on and, you know, there was confidence,” he said. “The RNC and the campaign are working as one right now.”
Lara Trump and election denier Michael Whatley were elected as co-chairs of the RNC last month.
They immediately ordered a purge of the organization after taking over, which has since backfired.
Some staffers who were asked to resign or were laid off are now being offered jobs again. Some staffers have declined to return which left the RNC without people with knowledgeable of election operations.
Those who returned are “unsure of what their roles are” in the Trumpified RNC, according to Axios.
