Former Trump attorney Rudy Giuliani said the former president’s campaign owed him $2 million in legal fees.
At a New York bankruptcy court hearing on Wednesday, Giuliani said he was never paid for his work as lead attorney in November 2020 when he was trying to prove Trump’s false claims of widespread election fraud.
“At that point, he had a tremendous number of complaints that there had been fraud in the election,” Giuliani said, according to Mediaite. “He asked me to lead that effort.”
“Once I took over, it was my understanding that I would be paid by the campaign for my legal work and my expenses to be paid,” he continued. “When we submitted the invoice for payment, they just paid the expenses. Not all but most. They never paid the legal fees.”
The disgraced former mayor of New York said the campaign paid his expenses but he “never got a salary.”
He estimates the Trump campaign owes him about $2 million.
Giuliani filed for chapter 11 bankruptcy in December shortly after a jury ordered him to pay $148 million in damages to Ruby Freeman and Shaye Moss, two former Georgia election workers he defamed.
